Het gaat beginnen. Contour 2011 start op vrijdag 26 augustus in majeur.

Van 20u00 tot 24u00 zijn de werken van de 5^de Biënnale voor Bewegend Beeld voor het eerst te bekijken. Op 11 plekken in de binnenstad worden films, video’s en installaties gepresenteerd van een twintigtal (inter)nationale kunstenaars. Je mag op de openingsavond overal gratis binnen.

En er is meer. Het thema van de biënnale is ‘Sound and Vision: Beyond Reason’. Muziek is een belangrijke leidraad. Heel wat kunstenaars zijn dan ook intensief met muziek bezig. Een aantal onder hen brengt een performance. En daarna volgt nog meer muziek.

Toosten op Contour 2011 kan vanaf 20u00 in het Cultuurcentrum Mechelen.

Op vrijdag 26 augustus opent ook ‘TROMPE LE MONDE’ in Galerie Transit, Zandpoortvest 10 (opening van 17u00 tot 20u00). De tentoonstelling van de Nederlandse curator Thomas Raat loopt parallel met Contour 2011. Raat onderzoekt de verbanden tussen de beleving van muziek en het maken van een kunstwerk. Contour 2011 starts on the evening of Friday 26 August.

From 20:00 to midnight, you can discover the art works of the 5^th Biennial of Moving Image for the first time. Film, video and installations from about 20 national and international artists are presented at 11 venues in the historic city of Mechelen. All venues are free for that night.

And there’s more. As the theme of the biennial is ‘Sound and Vision: Beyond Reason’, music plays an important role. Several of the participating artists, who are inspired by or working with music, will do a special performance on the opening night. More music will also be played throughout the evening.


From 20:00 you can celebrate the opening of the biennial with a drink at the bar of the Mechelen Cultural Centre.

‘TROMPE LE MONDE’ also opens on 26 August at Transit gallery, Zandpoortvest 10 (opening from 17:00 to 20:00). This exhibition from the Dutch curator Thomas Raat runs parallel to Contour 2011.
